Food at Italian Day 2019. Mangiamo!
It wouldn’t be an Italian festa without a banquet of delicious Italian food offered up by merchants and vendors: fried Italian donuts, cannoli, fresh pasta, wood-oven panini, meatballs, gelato, arancini, fried pasta, pizza, espresso-based beverages and more.
The festival also includes 14 extended patios, including Federico’s Tuscan-style terrace, food trucks and other ethnic favorites dished up by the Drive merchants and visiting vendors. Did someone say free samplings? Each year, select partners also serve up a taste of Italy with free cheese and salumi samplings, tempting visitors for more.
Authentic Italian Table Piazza
And more samplings there are – with paid entry to the Italian Chamber of Commerce ‘Authentic Italian Table’ a complete intersection showcasing more than 10 stations, dedicated to authentic Italian food products, fine wines and other beverages.
Today, Italian cuisine is re-interpreted and reconstructed across the globe. The end result is that what Canadians may be familiar with as Italian food isn’t really Italian due to misused ingredients or using products without DOP and IGP certifications. The Authentic Italian Table aims to bring back pure flavours, celebrating Italian ingredients and bringing Canadians the extraordinary taste of traditional products and dishes.
Tickets to enter the Piazza can be purchased in advance via this link or on site at the festival. Attendees also receive 1 free ticket for every group of 10 tickets. Buy your ticket in advance to avoid line ups!
